Inspite of the Government’s strong promise to provide adequate security in NE after the twin terror attacks in Mandera in Nov/Dec that resulted in the deaths

of 64 people including teachers and quarry workers, nothing appears to have changed. The latest twin attacks in Mandera that include what was a seen as a fifth attempt on the life of Mandera governor Ali Roba is a clear confirmation that the security concerns of the NE region are yet to be taken seriously. This desperate situation has created a feeling among the people of Mandera that they are not being regarded like their fellow Kenya citizens by being denied their constitutional right of security. The Minister of Internal Security therefore needs to listen to the concerns raised by Mandera and other parts of NE leaders , act swiftly to restore security in the region, prevent further loss of lives and restore the people’s confidence in their Government.
